August 29 Weigh-in


Weighed in at 106.7 kilos (234.74 pounds).
A loss of .4 kilos or .88 pounds.

I know it is a loss, but for the amount of work I have been doing (compared to what I used to do) it is not just good enough.
But I know where I am going wrong. I am having too many little treats here and there, thinking they won’t hurt but they all add up. And I have been busy so I have been skipping meals and then when I eat I have far too much because I am hungry. My portions are out of control.
Time to pull my socks up and get some real results happening. I have to focus on how my workouts will be so much easier and fun if I am not lugging around so much weight.

OK, things are getting exciting. I completed Week 3/Day 2 and I went well. Yay!  But that is not the exciting bit. The exciting bit is that I am starting to really enjoy my workouts and I look forward to them.
Who’d have thunk????? 
I am so excited about getting fit. The weight loss is a bonus, but being able to move around comfortably without any back pain or huffing and puffing is sooooo good. And I just want more.
I have so many more goals now OTHER than reaching my goal weight.

Most Australians don’t have kangaroos hopping around their front yard, but this Aussie does!
This view is from my office window. How lucky am I to be able to see that out of the window that I look out of everyday?
There were more of them there but to get them in the shot I would have had to take a pic of my wild and overgrown garden bed with dead rose bushes in it. lol. (Well, it is nearly spring here so hopefully they will come back to life soon. I am clearly an awesome gardener.)
Avah was very excited because one of the kangaroos had a joey (baby) in its pouch that kept poking its head out.
Cool, huh?

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday: It was cold and wet here so Avah and I had a movie day with Renee. Even though we were all snuggly and warm on the couch, I made myself workout because I knew I would regret it if I didn’t. I really don’t like missing my c25k workouts because I really want to get good at running. And you know, lose weigh, get sexy and shit.
Did Week 3/Day 1 of C25K yesterday which involved running for 3 minutes continuously and I did ok. I was going pretty slow but I got hot and sweaty and that’s the point of it all right? Right! (insert thumbs up and wink here)

We decided to get Indian food for tea as a treat/cheat and it was farking shit. Was so mad that I wasted my calories on crap food.
Sunday: Had a nice sleep in and then did a workout with the lovely Miss Jayde. She has lost 10 kilos (22 pounds) now and is going strong. We have been working out together a bit this week. She is a champion on the elliptical trainer. Renee was here too but wanted to stay in bed longer. She is a champion sleeper. (I was going to say a champion in the bed but that did not sound right….lol)
Right now, we are about to watch the football. My team, North Melbourne, are playing today so David and I are having a few people here to watch the game. (We all support North so there should not be any brawls or anything lol) There may or may not be potato chips involved. OK, there will be.

C25K W2/D3

 Did Week 2/Day 3 of C25K. Felt strong and fit (well, fit for me). Looking forward to starting week 3 even though I am a bit scared about trying to run for 3 mins continuously.

Avah gave me a big kiss and cuddle when I was done.
Today Avah, who is 5, was watching something on the television and all of a sudden she goes: “Oh are you serious??” When I asked her what was wrong she said: “Mummy, these people want us to wear a bikini when we have our periods. Some people are ridiculous.!”

Weigh-in and other stuff

Weighed in this morning at 107.1 kilos (236.94 pounds) down .6 (1.32 pounds) from last week. It was more on sunday morning but then I went and ate all that naughty shit at the baby shower

So tonight, I have my brother and his girlfriend coming over for tea. I don’t know if I have told you about my brothers before.
When all of my biological siblings and I moved out of home, Mum and Dad hated having an empty house, so they started doing foster care for kids who came from broken homes or who for some reason or another could not live with their real parents anymore.
Kevin and David were two aboriginal boys who came to live with us when they were 4 and 5. They had only been with us for a year when their mother asked my parents to look after them permanently. So we adopted them.

David (on the left) is 15 now and Kevin (on the right) will be 17 in October. I love them soooo much and I am very close to them.

My mum and dad have five other kids in their care at the moment so seven in total (5 of them including the boys have been adopted by us) and I think they deserve a frikkin medal. Dad is 72 and Mum is 69 but they have more energy and passion for life than most 30 year olds.

Today I woke up early and snuck out for a work out while everyone was still sleeping.
I did another C25K session.

Saturday 18 August

The last few days have been very busy with work, but I am top of things now. Yeehah! did you miss me while I was gone? Good. I missed you too!
I have still been working out although I did not put as much effort into them as I should have.
But today I was a ROCKSTAR!
This morning, I completed Week 2/Day 1 of the C25K and I farkin’ loved it.

Was feeling much stronger and in the zone. I followed it up with 30 minutes in the gym. I don’t know if it was because I had done the C25K before the gym or whether I was just feeling particularly awesome and strong today, but everything so much easier when I was lifting weights and doing my ice skaters.

I burnt 304 cals which is a better effort than earlier in the week, but still not as good as some of you guys.
I ‘ll get there though.

Gym 15/8

 Worked out for an hour and only burnt 222 cals in the gym. Pretty fecking disappointing, I better ramp things up a bit. I guess that it does not help that I sit on my arse in between each exercise.
Today I did:
Treadmill - 5 min warm up
Squats 30 x 3 sets
Lunges 30 x 3 sets
Ice skaters 100 x 3 sets
Side leg raises 30 x 3 sets
Back leg raises 30 x 3 sets
Box step 30 x 3 sets
Dumbbell Squats (2.5 kg x 2) 15 x 3 sets
Boxing bag kicks 30 x 3 sets (not sure what the name of that one is)

I spent some time this morning drawing stick figure people doing exercises so I can remember the names.

As you can see, my drawing skills are right up there with my gardening skills.
(oh and I did a 5 min treadmill cool down and stretching)

c25k Week 1/Day 3


c25k Day Week 1/Day 3
I have completed the first week! Yay. So happy I stuck with it.
But, today, I struggled. It felt harder today than it did for the first two runs and the only thing I could put it down to was my mind. I just could not get into it. I even got off the treadmill and walked and ran around the house. Maybe the treadmill was the problem. Maybe I need to try one of these runs outside.
Anyway, I did it and I feel great.

Trying to increase my water intake… peeing constantly…
Is that why it is so good for you when you are trying to lose weight, because you burn so many calories running to the bathroom and back???

Weigh-in 14 August


Weighed in this morning at 107.7 kilos (236.94 pounds).
A gain of .8 kilos (1.76 pounds) which is not good but at least it has gone down from what it was through the week.
Back on track, counting calories and working out, so all is ok. Hopefully will be down by the weekend.

I forgot to post this yesterday.
Sunday Workout:
10 Mins on Treadmill
Speedball x 100 x 3 Sets
Skating side slide things x 100 x 3 Sets
5kg seated dumbbell raises (above head) 15 x 3 Sets
5kg seated dumbbell side raises 15 x 3 Sets
5kg seated dumbbell front presses 15 x 3 Sets
2 mins on Elliptical (nearly died doing that- clearly to work on this)
I also need to work on learning the correct names for the stuff I do. I have looked them up and written them down somewhere…..

Max heart rate was 157.
Average Heart rate was 130.
Total Calories 140.
When we had our friends over on Saturday night we showed them how we have set our garage up as a gym. They were very, very impressed. I don’t think they believed that we used it though (you know, due to still being so fat and all..) so I would really love to be looking fitter by the next time I see them. We usually catch up with them every 6 weeks for dinner so need to get serious about this gym and running shit.

Six things Monday
  1. I did not drink on Saturday night. We had friends over and when we are together I always have wine. I was worried all of last week about how I was going to explain that I did not want to drink, but they did not even ask. (I did eat a bit too much though).
  2. Somehow, a couple of months ago, I managed to sync all of the crap David has on his ipod onto my ipod. I’m clever like that. So on Friday night I finally deleted all of his stuff and downloaded a whole heap of groovy shit. As a result, my workouts over the weekend were awesome. I did not have to skip every second song and no longer have 14,678 Eminem songs on my ipod.
  3. I have not weighed in yet. I normally do it Sunday mornings but I forgot and then forgot again this morning. I think it is because I am usually excited to weigh in but this week I know it is not going to be a good result. However, I will do it first thing tomorrow morning (Tuesday)
  4. Now that I am using My Fitness Pal (thelittlerippa)- I am more conscious of what I have been eating. I had not done any shopping last week so when I look back over what I ate, it was crap. So will be buying lots of fruit and veggies this week which I find strangely exciting.
  5. Even though last week’s eating was crap, I was happy with my workouts. I am loving the gym and also really enjoyed doing the C25K. (When I say I enjoyed it, I mean I was happy that I did it. Just wanted to clear that up incase you imagined me running with a smile on my face.)
  6. I feel like I have found my groove with the workouts I am doing, so I am going to create a bit of a schedule. I am also strangely excited by this.

Cold, windy and wet. But is is ok, I had the heater on in the garage. Clever, huh?
I took a photo of Renee walking on the treadmill but somehow it got deleted from my phone. Suspicious, I know. She had to turn her top around because she had Tweety Bird on it and she was embarrassed.

138 calories is not much is it? I was walking very slow though. I have no idea what the 45% fat burning thing means. Anyone? Anyone?

So finally started the C25K. Yes, yes I know what you are thinking.. I have started before but this time, I am a bit more motivated so will hopefully stick with it.

Thursday Bits
A few things:
  • My weight has gone up, up, up - it seems last week’s shenanigans have caught up with me. I am ok with that because I have been eating well this week and I know it will come back down eventually.
  • I have not exercised since the weekend. Yikes!! But have no fear, I have a few awesome sessions planned for the next few days. Now I just have to make sure I do them.
  • If planning workout sessions burned calories, then I would be a fit mofo. I LOVE planning my nutrition and fitness. I am really shit at following through though.
  • I have started using My Fitness Pal. It is awesome! It is amazing how quickly food adds up. I have probably been eating way over my calories so I am super excited to find such a fun way to count them. (I just re-read that and I sound like such a fecking dork)
  • l am feeling warm and fuzzy from all of the folk here in blogland. I had no idea how supportive this community was going to be. Even though I have always been overweight, I have always been interested in fitness stuff but nobody else I know is really into it. So finding all of these people who love it too has been so awesome. David was looking through my dashboard yesterday and he saw a blog where readers were asking the blogger sexy-time kinds of questions and he said: “No wonder you are always on here you horny little bitch.” 
OK. So I am off to get hot and sweaty now (and not the horny kind).

Took my trusty little scales with me on the weekend.
Weighed in at 106.9 Kilos (235.18 Pounds). A loss of only .3 kilos (.66 pounds)

Pretty disappointing and then I have probably ruined this week’s weigh in too because of the drinking shenanigans. 
But that is ok. I will keep chugging along.

Back Home


Back from our weekend away.
Here are the highlights (and the lowlights)
  • Did heaps of swimming. I love swimming. I am sure I was a fish in a previous life. It was awesome.
  • Did a workout by the lake and I did not care who saw me. I made sure to embarrass my 15 year old brother by doing all of my yoga poses right in front of him. I was pretty hilarious.
  • Eating went well. Until the last night there. When we decided to get wine. Then we got more. Then we were drunk. Then we got hungry. Then we ate shit. Then I thought it would be fun to take a series of photos of myself.

Then. Well, then this happened. After seeing my pics, I decided I had to do some immediate grooming. I got out some Nair hair remover, and got to work.

My brother thought it would be hysterical to take my picture and then post it on Facebook. After much screeching and hysteria, I managed to delete the photo but not before everyone on FB saw it.
And so today we are back at home. The weekend was so awesome. It did not go totally to plan but overall I think I came back happier and maybe even a bit fitter. And with a slight hangover.
